About Collaborative Professionals (NSW & ACT) Inc
Collaborative Professionals (NSW & ACT) Inc is a not-for-profit state organisation representing collaboratively trained professionals across New South Wales. Our members include lawyers, financial experts, mediators, mental health professionals, and social workers, all specially trained in the Collaborative Practice method and committed to helping people resolve disputes respectfully, without going to court.
We were established in 2006 and have grown into a healthy and active community of like-minded professionals who find the collaborative approach both more satisfying and more effective than traditional litigation.
What we do
As the NSW state body, we support our members and set the standards for collaborative practice in NSW. Governed by an elected, voluntary board, we:
- Set the standards and guidelines for those who wish to practise as collaborative professionals in NSW
- Develop and share precedents, practice tips, and resources in our members-only section
- Provide support for local practice groups across NSW
- Host regular networking events and CPD sessions for members
- Promote the uptake of collaborative practice across all areas of law in NSW
- Represent our NSW members within the national organisation, AACP
- Senior practitioner support and mentor members who are new to working in the collaborative model
A community, not just an organisation
One of the things members consistently say they value most is the community. Collaborative practice is interdisciplinary. Lawyers, financial professionals, and mental health practitioners work side by side, and CP (NSW/ACT) brings those professionals together through events, practice groups, and shared resources. Many of our members describe it as a professional home in a way that their own discipline associations are not.
